Martínez Rooms Pilgrims is an apartment divided into three separate units. I had a room with a private bathroom that could be locked. The apartment is located on the third floor, not far from the center of Caldas de Reis. There’s a supermarket and a good gastrobar nearby O Encontro Gastrobar.
I have to say that despite the very comfortable living conditions, this option turned out not to be the best choice for me. I felt a bit uneasy staying there alone. It’s better to stay in such apartments with someone else.
What made me feel uneasy was the fact that I was essentially staying in an apartment, and I had no idea who might be living next door. I felt quite lonely and a bit scared because I felt like I was in a confined space. My apartment neighbors didn’t come back for a long time, and when they finally did, I ended up staying in my room until morning. They didn’t even know I existed until I came out the next day.
I rented a separate room with a private bathroom. There were also two other rooms in the apartment that shared a bathroom, as well as a spacious living room with a fridge, microwave, and kettle. There was a pilgrim stamp in the hallway. The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated.
Check-in was done remotely. I communicated with the host via WhatsApp, and she sent me detailed instructions on how to enter the apartment and unlock my room.
In my room, there was a good TV, a large wardrobe, a private bathroom, a nice hairdryer, and plenty of towels. There was also shampoo and shower gel. Additionally, there was a small Dolce Gusto Nescafé coffee machine, cups, glasses, some cookies, and a large bottle of water.
It was a bit noisy in the evening when the people from the apartment upstairs came back with their children, but they quieted down by ten o’clock.
My room looked like this. The room features a double bed with white bedding and decorative pillows, a wooden headboard, and a matching wooden nightstand with drawers. There’s a large wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors reflecting the bed and part of the room. In the corner, there’s a small desk with a white chair, some items like a bottle of water, and a lamp. The floor is polished wood, and the room has a clean, cozy, and elegant atmosphere.

A cozy bedroom featuring a large bed with white bedding and decorative pillows, a wooden dresser with an attached mirror, a small wooden nightstand, and a striped upholstered chair near a window covered with sheer curtains. The room has polished wooden floors and a calm, inviting atmosphere

The hosts left me coffee capsules for the coffee machine, biscuits, and a large bottle of water.

My private bathroom

A small private bathroom featuring a bathtub with a glass shower screen, a handheld showerhead, a toilet, and a bidet. The walls are tiled in light and dark grey tones with decorative trim

This is the common room, where there was a fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster. I just looked around the room but didn’t really use it.

A wooden dresser with a colorful patterned surface holds two wooden trays with various tea bags and coffee supplies, alongside a white toaster and an electric kettle. A dark upholstered armchair and a large mirror hanging on the wall are visible nearby

It was an interesting experience, but it’s better to stay alone in hotels and guesthouses because there’s always staff nearby.
