The Rey Fernando guesthouse is located next to the bus station, a 20-minute walk from the Cathedral of Santiago.
The Rey Fernando is on the sixth floor of an apartment building. There are many shops nearby, including a grocery supermarket and several Chinese restaurants, as well as a Chinese supermarket. There is also a laundry in the same building.

Hotels in Santiago de Compostela
To tell the truth, I didn’t like the Rey Fernando guesthouse very much. Its only advantage is that the bus station is nearby. Otherwise, there are no other advantages.
Firstly, it is not indicated anywhere that the hotel is located in a residential building. Secondly, I got, apparently, the worst room. Thirdly, the staff did not give a tour and did not tell me that there was a living room with a mini-kitchen. And I booked a room at one price, as a result, they showed me a check for a cheaper room. I don’t know how this happened.
All the time I spent in this hotel, I was counting the minutes until tomorrow would come and I could leave this uncomfortable place. This is probably the worst place to stay during my trip.
The hotel is divided into two wings – on the right side I saw new doors and probably the rooms are better there, on the left side the doors in the rooms are old and the rooms are also so-so. There was a coffee machine in the lobby.
On the house plan, my room is colored red – you can see that part of the room is adjacent to the stairs, and part overlooks the inner courtyard.
My room at Rey Fernando
I had a small single room with a bathroom. The main disadvantage of this room was that I had a balcony with a window into a inner courtyard. All the windows of the neighbors’ bathrooms and kitchens looked out onto this courtyard, so with the window open I could constantly smell food being cooked, running water, and sounds from the toilets. It was extremely unpleasant, and if you closed the window, it was stuffy.
Although the room was clean with nice little touches, I didn’t feel comfortable. The lack of a proper window made me feel like I was living in a closet.
My room. In my room I had a bed, a TV, a nightstand and a small wardrobe.

The bathroom had a small bathtub, soap and shower gel, and towels.

Of course, the Rey Fernando was only 55 euros, and in a city overrun with pilgrims it’s not such a bad option, but if I ever get to Santiago de Compostela again, I’ll choose this one.
