Vila do Conde is a small town on the Atlantic Ocean coast, about 25 km from Porto. The metro (Line A, the blue line) runs from Porto to Vila do Conde.
The first written record of the town Vila do Conde dates back to 953 AD. However, research shows that a settlement existed here as far back as the Iron Age.
In Vila do Conde, I stayed at the guesthouse Residencial Princesa do Ave.
The town of Vila do Conde is very charming, with a beautiful waterfront, a lighthouse, a fort, and several old churches. It’s very pleasant to walk along the promenade in the evening before sunset. Many people are active at this time – running, cycling, boating, and practicing yoga. People stroll and relax.

The Santa Clara Monastery, founded in 1318. The monastery building was constructed in 1777.

The Santa Clara Aqueduct was built between 1626 and 1714, consisting of 999 arches stretching over 4 kilometers. In my photo, only a small section of the aqueduct is visible.

The Capela de Nossa Senhora da Guia stands gracefully on the rocky Atlantic shore, bathed in warm sunlight. Its simple whitewashed walls and red-tiled roof contrast beautifully with the blue sky and sea. A lighthouse can be seen in the distance, adding to the peaceful coastal atmosphere surrounding this charming chapel.

The Farolim do Molhe Norte de Vila do Conde lighthouse stands proudly at the end of a rocky breakwater, its distinctive red and white stripes contrasting against the deep blue sea and sky. Fishermen can be seen casting their lines nearby, adding life to the serene coastal scene. This lighthouse guides ships safely along the Atlantic coast of Vila do Conde.

Forte de São João Baptista de Vila do Conde – Construction of the fort began in 1570.

The sun sets gently over the calm Atlantic Ocean, casting a shimmering golden path across the water. Soft clouds scatter across the sky, glowing warmly in the fading light. The quiet beach with scattered rocks adds to the serene and peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful coastal sunset.
